Hard Cover. Alcott was impoverished, but not intellectually, and received her education from the leading transcendental lights of the day. She was an Abolitionist and a Feminist, and a rather wonderful writer. This is a Very Good copy of the second volume in her series of short-stories for children that eventually reached six.

Laid-in is a contemporary religious card. This copy is bumped, and has a lean; there is a 1" spot on the front cover and at the foot of the spine, which has a crease. The volume is edge rubbed with a frayed spine tail, the spine is sunned and there is a faint crease running the length of the spine. The front hinge is just starting, the second endpaper is clipped on the top corner, and the pages have acquired light toning. This is the first book in the Aunt Jo series.
